KPD & Real Time Crime Center: Community Safety Partnership
The Kyle Police Department recently reached out to share details about their new Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) initiative, and we wanted to pass it along to our residents.
The Real Time Crime Center is an innovative division within the Kyle Police Department that utilizes centralized data and technology to enhance safety in real time and improve the solvability of previous incidents.
How Residents Can Participate:
Homeowners can create an account and register their security cameras—such as doorbell or home surveillance systems—with the RTCC. This registration does not provide live access to camera feeds. Instead, it notifies KPD Real Time Crime Analysts and investigators that their system may have recorded footage of incidents that have occurred in the area. From there, analysts can request the homeowner to upload any relevant footage at their discretion.
Opportunities for HOAs and Apartments:
Homeowners’ Associations and apartment communities can integrate cameras in shared spaces (like pools, parks, and playgrounds) into the RTCC system. This allows law enforcement to access footage during emergencies or investigations in the area. Disclaimer: We do not currently have plans to implement this, however, we wanted to share this information to our residents.
Flock Camera Integration:
Neighborhoods and multifamily communities are increasingly adopting Flock cameras, which scan license plates and alert law enforcement when a vehicle linked to a crime enters your area. These have been particularly effective in reducing vehicle burglaries across the Austin Metro region.
